bubbly wrap or anything to protect and stuff the boxes with will be your best friend when it comes to protecting stems and leaves also to prevent soil spilling all over cling film works great

Consider heat packs as needed and for any of appropriate size that prefer high humidity think about getting a large plastic storage tote with a lid to keep conditions more consistent. If you’re going a long distance also think about bringing props rather than full plants for any where it might make sense. Much easier to pack a bunch of cuttings with damp paper towels or sphagnum vs potential for pots overturning and losing all the dirt (and associated roots)

If you have many smaller plants you can also go to a liquor store and get the boxes with dividers (they’re usually happy to give them away) and then slot a pot into each section

I took mine with me in my car in shallow-ish cardboard boxes to make sure their pots wouldn’t tip and that their leaves weren’t squished. I also made sure to shade from direct sun, and closed any air vents directly near them to reduce drafts. I talked to them too. It was kind of a lot of things and probably overboard lol, but they did well!

When I moved I put my smaller plants into laundry baskets with small towels between them. Larger plants were trimmed to fit and wrapped with large bath towels. These along with my larger plants went into the back of my car and I drove them to my new house. It took me several trips, but I didn’t have any plant disasters.

Short distance move: Wrap each plant that needs it in newsprint (craft paper, butcher’s paper) to prevent vines from tangling and to prevent broken leaves. Carry in a car using box lids, cardboard boxes or plastic storage containers like Rubbermaid Long distance, pro movers: Pack them like you have sold them and plan to send by mail. This means covering the soil with paper towels, cotton batting or newsprint to prevent spillage. Wrap the pot with cling wrap to prevent leaks and hold the paper towel. Pad with cotton batting. Cover the leaves/vines with newsprint or similar paper. Place last into moving boxes. Fill in with styrofoam peanuts. Most plants can handle 3 to 5 days in the box. You could see yellowing and dropped leaves from moving stress. Good luck🍀🪴

I just moved my 100+ after an unexpected breakup 😮‍💨 I second everyone’s tips for using boxes/laundry baskets/plastic tote bins to carry multiple at once and keep them from falling. If you have any plants that are already on death’s door, I would just let them go prior to the move. Good luck and safe travels!
