Every time I follow your instructions for certain succulents they end up dead. As long as I don’t water them as suggested by you they live. I am so disappointed

If it’s not time to water the plant, you can snooze waterings. Eventually the plants settings will reset and tell you to water less often making a better schedule for the conditions in your house.
7개 좋아요I check every plant before watering. Succulents like to dry out between waterings. So I use chopsticks to check to the bottom of the pot. If soil clings to the chopstick, the soil still has moisture and I don’t water. For a plant that only needs to dry partially, I put the chopstick in about two inches to determine if it’s time to water or not
7개 좋아요Skewers work too. I use metal chopsticks so I can just wipe them off with a paper towel and reuse them forever
3개 좋아요I agree ☝️ I always check the soil with a wooden chop stick first. The app does its best based off basic knowledge you give it and general knowledge of your area but it’s still always best to check the soil yourself before watering just to be on the safe side
5개 좋아요I like the combo of checking the soil with my finger or a stick, then also feeling the weight; a watered plant feels significantly heavier than a dry plant

Cherie, I sometime think plants like these got their name of “succulent” because so many perish under our care. Yes they are purchased by us, but really only lent to us for a time being before they perish too. Ergo what was said billions of times… “What was lent to me died. You suck plant.” …turned into “succulent.” ☺️ Without knowing the location of where you purchased your plant, I can say for a fact, the following: - succulents purchased out of big box stores or a dime a dozen. Most of them are already stressed out with no plans by the big box. Store for them to live very long. Doesn’t mean it won’t happen. It’s just try to take it with a grain of salt of those are gonna die pretty quickly. - soil soil soil. You alone must find the soil that works with you and any watering habit for the succulent. I have killed many succulents from all over the US. My brain cannot process the thought “well if they’re not thirsty they just won’t drink it. That’s not how plans work. Most succulents would rather tell you “I hate water” and then yell at you. “I’m dying over here! Can I please have some water, or is this how you treat all of us prisoners?” I have found this Cactus & Succulent Blend to be my favorite as it allows me to watery house of plants once a week. If it’s a succulent with this stuff then I’ve found I can give a drink without them drowning when watering all the other non-succulent plants in the house. The bag is small but I sometimes mix it with Miracle Sponge for Cactus & Succulent Mix. Oops I mean Miracle Grow. (It sure is a miracle if any cactus or succulent grows in that stuff.) They are succulent is really water adverse then I just use this stuff and nothing else. Again, you have to find the soil that they like and that you can fit into a schedule of watering that you like.

I hate Apple and how they spell check & grammar type for me while I’m typing! Sorry for errors in my post.
3개 좋아요I have snoozed waterings too as JR suggested above. Suck … lent 😆 Prisoners 😂 You’re a funny PlantMan😁 Most of my plants were gifted to me; I rarely purchase plants - that makes it more 💔in my mind😔

0개 좋아요Cherie, if planta is telling you to overwater, it’s only doing a guesstimate of when you should water and relies on you to correct it if it’s too early by clicking off the snooze icon next to the task, then put in soil is wet. Planta wanted me to water some plants on a daily basis, wants me to water my succulents every 3-7 days, these are way too often. Snoozing the task when it’s too early adjusts the watering schedule for that plant so that over the course of time the app should know exactly when the plant does need water based off of your history of watering it and snoozing the watering. My app understands now that I water my succulents every 1-2 months because my humidity slows the drying of the soil, but I’m not going to go crispy on my other delicate plants just to dry my succulents soil more to follow plantas advice.

좋아요 1개I may have the same plant. I took mine out of the small plastic pot and placed it in a different slightly bigger pot and it is thriving. I over water bc the app does suggest watering a bit too much. I suggest taking a skewer and puncturing the soil and if it is still wet or even damp (even a little). Then snooze the watering. I recently lost a couple bc I was overwatering going by the suggestions on the app.
좋아요 1개It’s the soil, that soil is way too thick and dense for succulents to begin with unfortunately let alone the overwatering. A good beginners hack for succulent soil is a bag of miracle gro cactus soil and a bag of perlite, mix it 50/50 and repot. Once you have a fast draining, gritty soil it’s a lot harder to overwater, also bottom water only, succulents generally don’t like to be touched if you can help it lol then depending on the type, you can go by the leaves, if they are firm and plump don’t water, if they are thin and firm, easily bendable etc, then water until it runs out the bottom and leave them alone. Don’t sit them in a dish of water long term and make sure there’s no drain puddles after you water that they are sitting in.
2개 좋아요I agree, the soil looks too dense for succulents
좋아요 1개People killllll me when they don’t repot out of the nursery soil
좋아요 1개For succulents: make sure you use the right kind of soil. If it retains too much moisture, they WILL get root rot. Avoid getting water between their leaves; it can get trapped there, stagnate, and rot. Learn how to check soil moisture and if it seems wet at all, snooze the watering on planta. Be aware that planta's schedules tend towards overwatering in general.ake sure succulents get extremely good drainage. If you see signs of rot, take a cutting from a healthy part of the plant and try to restart it. If you make any mistake, try to make it underwatering; it's easier to save a dehydrated plant than a rotting one
2개 좋아요Yeah, Planta highly recommended fertilizer for my Venus fly trap. I mean, that’s what bugs are but I’ll leave that to her. In any kind of parenting, I find that you are the best judge 😊
2개 좋아요Yeah when it told me to liquid fertilize my carnivorous plants I knew from then on to not trust it totally. Do all your own research. I use planta as a way to journal and keep up with the watering/ fertilizing schedule. I snooze when necessary, also found a setting where you can ‘check moisture levels’ of certain plants
