I am planning on repotting my snake plant this weekend. Should I separate out the new baby that’s peaking up? Very new to indoor plants so not sure the best to transplant this.

Snake plants like being a little pot bound. I’ve had mine in the same pot for over a year and it’s been very happy, rewarding me with many new plant pups!

I did read that about them. I just don’t like that the new baby that is popping up is right on the edge of the pot. It came in a self watering pot so I’d like to get it out of that to avoid root rot. I bought an inch bigger pot.

Just depends on if you’re wanting to keep them together or not. If you want one big plant eventually or two. They do like to be compact so I would suggest not going any bigger.

You can do either or! I recently repotted my mom’s snake plant for her and there was also a pup that was legit cracking the plastic nursery pot. I rinsed out the roots where it joined to the main root then literally just broke it off and repotted in its on small pot (pics attached, half normal promix half leca for mother, trying Mollys soiless succulent/cactus mix from Amazon in a selfwatering pot for my pup payment - i know it’s huge lol). I also did my boyfriends but didn’t steal his singular pup. Succulent/cactus soil i think is recommended but you can use just normal and water less! You can also propagate these guys from leaf cuttings if you end up pruning any! Check out TikTok!!

That looks awesome! What kind of snake plant is that?

I think it might be the “moonshine” one!!

Personally I’d leave everything as is for the pot you have. It has room for a lot more growth and it is apparently happy due to the pup it’s giving you. I’d wait to see more pups and crowding. Why fix what’s not broke? 😉

Ya it’s preference for sure - I have two in self water pots and two that are not. The self water seems to be fuller and taller than the others that are not.
