Hi all, I bought this Elephant bush about a year or two ago and it started to die but I was able to pick and save some of it. I want to propagate it but am unsure if cutting it will kill it. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated!

I think it’s not getting enough light, which is why it’s so leggy. “Chop and prop” will probably work great, just take off the top 4-6” and replant and it will root. But you need to give that boy some photons.

0 likesIt looks sooo cool! But I do think it’s long and leggy because it’s not getting enough light. I would cut it down, I think you can probably cut it into a few pieces and propagate them all. I propagated some jade in water before planting into soil, but I wonder if maybe you can put the cuttings directly into the soil like you can with succulents. That’s my two cents but hopefully someone has a little more experience with these can supplement my advice 🙂. Happy planting!

1 likeChopping and propping definitely won't kill it. And it will help it Bush out a bit more especially if it does get more light.
