      The identifier is wrong almost every time I use it. Especially succulents and airplants.

    I don’t know if you’re joking or if you don’t know that there is a plant identifier on the app. You’re probably being sarcastic. But I’ve noticed a lot of people ask the community what something is instead of using the plant identify.

      The plant ID is not always correct though. Likely why you see people asking.

      When I use Planta’s plant identifier on these photos it comes up with tree aeonium variety which doesn’t really narrow it down to be honest. Hence, they would post a photo and ask the community.

      You’re very right, a lot of people don’t understand that AI isn’t right most of the time. It can get the genus right most times but I’ve scanned airplants before and have it tell me I’ve got a rose bush.

      I like asking people. It keeps things engaging, and if someone gets it wrong, it gives me an excuse to look up the misidentified plant. I might even find something new that I want to get. Wrong plants need love too! 🤕!

  4. Plant Lives Matter

    Definitely Aeonium, looks like A. aureum to me, but check for yourself. Interestingly, I just happened to be browsing the Aeonium genus a few months back and thought this species was quite interesting, so I kept the pictures. Btw, Google Lens is very good at identifying plants out and about. I use it all the time. Much more accurate than Planta.
