I’m going to go buy some new plants soon, but i’m not sure what to look for. I’d say i’m an experienced plant keeper and i’m looking for plants that can tolerate more shady conditions, because all my window space has been taken up. I already have a snake plant, a ZZ plant, and a golden pothos. Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Peperomia! They’ve become my new favorite! There’s a lot of different types too, but they’re all pretty similar in care. They’re pretty hardy and so well in north windows. I currently have a variegated peperomia obtusifolia and a watermelon peperomia. I really suggest getting them from local nurseries if you wanna make sure they’re better cared for than box stores.

No problem! I also have a raindrop peperomia 😅 can’t believe I forgot about it him. Here’s some photos for reference if you’re interested in picking one up.

This one’s the raindrop one. I just got him yesterday in the mail so his leaves are a little curled, and I’m planning on repotting him, but he’s very cute. They’re also typically pretty affordable where I live (PA). I got them both around 6-7 dollars

I currently have 1 indoor and 1 outdoor Hosta (yes, I know hostas indoor are a little strange), but the indoor one is a Hosta plantain lily elegans and she’s doing great indoors. I have her about 10 inches from the window on a stool. I’m gonna repot her soon and seperate her into smaller pots to fill my window. A good note though is that they typically come in outdoor gardening soil, which is too dense for indoor plants. I repotted mine with all purpose potting mix and a little perlite for better drainage. They do make great outdoor plants too, but need to be planted under shade, typically under or around tree trunks. This is her after about 3 months of having her in her spot.

I know she’s a bit of an odd pick, but I love her leaves and she’s been very low maintenance since I got her. I water her about once a week and mist her two days before I water her. The app says she doesn’t need the leaves cleaned. I swear I’ve just left her on the stool in the same pot and turned her once a week when I bring her back from watering her and she’s been doing great.
