Two days after planting my hydrangea and making sure to do all the recommended things however, now I’m a nervous wreck that I have done something wrong. Perhaps I added too much fertilizer or didn’t mix the soil up properly. Anyone have any recommendations on how to care for a newly transferred from a pot to the ground Hydrangea?

Mine does this too… I think it’s stressed. It should come out of it in a few days. At least mine does

I recently transplanted a hydrangea from Redding, California to Gold, country foothills of California. It was a pretty drastic transplant and I was instructed to remove 1/3 of the top of it after deep root watering it and then transplanting it. I did all of the above and I continue to deep root water it. It was a very big plant and very sentimental so I’m treating it like a child and I’m happy to say it is doing well. One recommendation that I was given was if it tries to flower this year to remove those and let it actually flower next year because it takes too much energy to try to produce a flower and I want all the energy to go to the plant so here’s a picture of it and you’ll see how big it is. This is 2/3 of what the original size was so you may want to consider cutting off the blossoms so that it can focus on itself and the root system, but I’m no expert. That’s why I’m here.
