Hello Everyone: Help request: My Areca Palm is growing a weird little thing that I can’t identify. Does anyone know what it is? Someone said it will kill my plant by using the nutrients so I’m going to cut it off. The palm is doing very well so far and is about 3 years old. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 💚

    When this happens with orchids it’s due to inconsistent watering. I forget the exact mechanics, but it has something to do with it drying out and then being wet, perhaps the same with palms?

      I agree, it's inconsistent watering. When new plant cells develop, they trap whatever water was available at the time. Once their cell wall hardens, there's no changing their size, so they end up as smaller crinkles if they weren't hydrated enough during development. It's most noticable in plants with thin leaves. It happens to oncidiums all the time
