So I have a monstera never had one before I’m going on 2 weeks of having it. I watered it right away when I got it cuz I repotted it. Now going on week 2 and my app is saying I don’t water it for another 8 days. The soil is damn near completely dry, do I wait the 8 days or do I water like tomorrow. I have it in potting soil/perlite/orchard bark mix so it’s chunky. Also one of the leaves are turning my crispy at the end. That obviously means it needs more water? According to the app, it doesn’t want me to water it until about every 18th day. I feel like that’s not enough for a tropical plant. I mist every three days.

If it’s dry, water it until water comes out the bottom.

I thought so. I guess the app has to get used to it’s schedule

There are various reasons the app guesstimates at first, but keep checking on your own and make sure you mark in the app that it needed water. That way it learns! A small part could be that it’s just extremely dry indoors with heaters running (if you’re in cold climate). Water now but if you regularly mist or give it higher humidity, the watering may go back to further stints in between.

Yes, I agree with what Stephanie said above! Also, be sure to add the task in the app and your schedule will adjust 💚

I agree with the others, but the leaves being crispy is also a sign that it needs more moisture. So I would mist it and/or get a humidifier going. Monsteras are used to warm, humid tropical climates so try to recreate that as much as possible. Good luck!

I have humidifier just a small one. And I just rearranged my whole living room to be able to have my plants in a east facing window instead of a north facing window

Yeah I’d water if it’s dry. Maybe double check the plant settings in the app like distance to the window, pot size, etc? The app is great at keeping a schedule but still manually check before watering or completing other tasks. Good luck!

The app is pretty straight forward with the 18 days. Browning and such could be from it being bought and replanted and previously watered then repotted and watered again too soon. 18 days sounds pretty fair as long as you are watering well on water days. I personally would wait the few days before I watered again. They are pretty forgiving once on a routine. You just have to get the routine started.
