Hey guys! First time growing one of these and I was wondering the tiny little leaf is a baby shoot off? I’m just happy I haven’t killed this guy yet. Thanks!

It looks like a separate plant. It could me the same type like the Syngonium Angustatum Little Star). It could be an alocasia. I can’t tell from the photo. 🪴🍀

A different plant? There’s no way lol.

I don’t know how another plant would have popped up… the soil it came in was immediately changed and plant cleaned fully. The soil was new.
0 J'aimeI can’t see clearly from the photo if it’s the same plant. You know best. Alocasia corms have been found in pots of other plants from nurseries which is why I suggested it as a possibility. Plus, you never stated you changed out the soil and already know you only have one plant. Syngoniums typically don’t branch out underground. This may be a unique plant.

Thank you
0 J'aimeIt's not normal for syngoniums to spread underground, but I have proof that it's possible! The little guy in this picture sprouted up out of nowhere a couple months ago. I didn't propagate it and there's no doubt the little one is also a strawberry cream. Nature is wild! *please ignore the damage to the main plant, we lost a fight with a sticky fly trap recently 🤦🏼♀️
1 j'aimeAlso, it looks like your guy is really stretching for light. Make sure to turn the pot occasionally to encourage even growth ☺️
