Can someone help me identify the second plant? I did a google image search on them, and they both came up as dracena marginata. They’re similar enough for me to know they’re from the same species (genus?) but different enough to think that they would be a different sub-species(?). Sorry if my verbiage is wrong. I’m very new to plants and don’t know the correct terms. They were my grandma’s. She passed away recently so I can’t get much of their history. All I really know is the below. The lighter one had pretty old soil and was root bound. It was indoors by a west facing window with no real shade The darker one had fresher soil, was not root bound, and was by an east facing window with lots of indirect light. Is it possible they’re the same type of plant and look so different because of their placement/living conditions, or are they a different variety? Thank you!!

  1. The leafy Angel

I’m no expert but I want to say yes they are the same, one does look healthier so once the other one gets better I’m sure it will look more like the other one.

After looking around a bit more online, it looks like the lighter one is the tricolor variety. The leaves aren’t as flexible and it has the cream color next to the green. What threw me off is that mine doesn’t have much of the red outline on the leaves. Hopefully it come in as the plant gets healthier. Thanks for your input! 😊
