I just repotted this monstera which had 3 plants into 3 separate pots because I was concerned about overcrowding and now I came across videos saying it’s good if they are in the same pot. They said having too much soil would make the plant focus on growing roots rather than leaves. I am confused. Should I not have separated them?

Separating was a good call. They do like to be very root bound so you can leave them alone for ages. But if they are all together they will fight for space. Hoping you only potted a bit larger than their root systems to keep them snug.

while it is true that monstera do like to be tight in their pots, they should not be in the same pot. monstera are infamous for choking each other out. only have one plant per pot. they will naturally slow for a moment as they fill out their pots, it's normal. don't put them back together.

      That’s a relief! Thanks!
