1 me gustaI’ve grown cilantro a couple of years in pots. I started the first year from seeds. Took too long. Started the next summer from starter plants. I recall that the life of the plant is surprisingly short. It went from seeds to bolting in about 30 days in my area. Bolting is when the plant goes to flowering, preparing to drop seeds and die. So, the energy goes to the flowers. The leaves become spindly (like fennel) with thick stems. You have to rigorously trim the flowers to keep getting the flat leaves. You have to keep planting new seeds or starter plants every 30 days in my zone 9 area to have cilantro all summer. It was too much for me to continue each year. I enjoyed the process. But, cilantro is cheap at Asian and Mexican markets in my area.
