Hi guys! I bought my orchid two weeks ago. I repotted it because the pot was too small and the roots were coming out of it, however i didn’t cut the flower. There is one flower that is done flowering and there were two that fell off and didn’t flower at all. What can I do to keep my orchid alive? And how can I propagate it? Before and now pics

Orchids don’t always need to be flowering to be alive. Once all of the flowers fall off that branch they are on, you can cut the branch off at the base of the orchid where the leaves are. Make sure to keep it healthy by not watering it too much (soil should pretty much dry out between watering) and fertilizing it sometimes, and it might flower again in the future.

The reason why the flowers didn’t all bloom and last a long time was probably because you reported it. Generally, you are supposed to wait to repot until after it’s done flowering, but you might have made the right decision to repot right away after purchasing. One of my orchids almost died because they don’t always come potted in the best medium/soil. Hope this helps!

Yes I saw and it was so tight :( I’m gonna try to keep it healthy. Hopefully it will bloom again. :)

Don’t worry about the dying spike. 100% normal after a repot. If it browns all the way down then cut it at the base. Your plant will produce a nee spike once it’s adjusted and ready. Orchid roots are like sponges, so they like a good dump of water, and then all the excess removed and able to dry out again. Your medium might be too moisture retentive so keep an eye on it.

I wouldn’t cut it until it is completely brown and dead. Use warm water when watering! If the roots are green don’t water. If the roots are silver/gray it needs water. The stem can shoot out more growth while green which is why I said I wouldn’t cut it. Mine is a twig with a tiny bit of growth that’s going to eventually bloom again :)
