Am I alone in almost having a panic attack when I opened Planta today? Now I know that I donāt have to do all of the tasks itemised for today but Iām supposed to be repotting 7 plants!?! Is it because itās March and the supposed start to Spring? Or is this app trying to get me running for the hills?
Usually most plants have to be repotted every potted every year because the soil gets old. It doesnāt drain well or I believe hold nutrients anymore. Itās probably how long you have had the plants.
3 Likes I got nearly all of my plants either this or last year. Although Iām a fairly new plant mum, my father was a member of the Royal Horticultural Society, so I understand that my babies need repotting more or less yearly. It was just a bit of a shock to find that Planta wants me to repot SEVEN plants! Guess it thinks that the 1st of March is springtime everywhere lol š

I wouldnāt repot just yet, depending on where youāre at. Where Iām at, itās still way too cold. I would wait a few months. You donāt have to repot all at once either, if it feels too overwhelming for you but a little here and a little there until theyāre all replanted.

1 Like Iām not a big morning person either. Itās telling me I have to water all my plants today š«£š« itās not necessarily true though. Just bc the app may suggest something still check the plant and make sure. This is my second year since Iāve gotten into plants. The app is a nice guideline but donāt ever think itās a for sure thing, just bc the app says.

Iād wait closer to summer before any repots depending on where you live. But yeah itās definitely normal because soil gets old and compacted. Also soil becomes hydrophobic as time goes on, which means it wonāt absorb any water.

ššš itās because itās March. In my experience my plants are rarely ready to be repotted when Planta sends the reminder lol
3 LikesSince I donāt automatically repot each year, I use Planta as a reminder to check roots and soil. Then make my list, buy supplies and have a repotting party the first warm weekend in April. I only repot plants if they are root bound. Everyone else gets a little new soil mixed in and worm castings. Iām way too lazy to do it every year!
3 Likesrepotting is hardly ever an extremely urgent task, itāll make the plants happy for sure but theyāll likely survive until youāve got the time for them :) at least in my experience but i usually stick to hardy plants š„ø

Yeah, Planta automatically rolls this out every March lol. Iām about to get about 100 notifications š I just āskip until next timeā and repot as needed. I only leave the task up if itās a plant Iām putting off but donāt want to forget to do sooner rather than later
