Hi there! My mom got my this adorable Calathea Rattlesnake! The lady she got it from said it hates sun and needs a dark room. When I do a Google and look on planta it says bright indirect light. What do you reccomend? This is one of the plants I've wanted for a bit so I wanna keep it happy! Right now it's in my bedroom that gets minimal light. Thank you!!!

Bright indirect light is better. I keep a couple Calatheas in a bright room and one in a darker room with a grow light.

They love humidity too! I bought a battery powered little humidifier to place by my calatheas and it helps a lot

the lady isnt entirely wrong, but shes not quite right either - they do hate sun, as in DIRECT sun. this would be the kind of light that you get on a cloud free day! bright indirect light more akin to a slightly overcast day - its bright and you might need sunglasses, but you cannot see the sun. in a house, this might be an east facing window with gentle morning sun, or just off to the side or a few feet from a south facing window hope this helps! ps - i second getting a humidifier, and highly recommend using distilled water if you tap is hard! these plants are picky and the leaves will crisp is there are excess minerals and chemicals in the water :)
