my thanksgiving cactus has taught me something new. the three-sided pad is caused by fasciation, a random genetic mutation in some cactuses that causes three or four sided pads. it's not harmful or indicative of any care issues, they just do this sometimes. i'm curious if the following pads from this one maintain this shape? i've never seen this before but apparently the holiday cactuses (and dragonfruit?) do it fairly often

    Yes mine does retain these leaves but granted she is a holiday cactus not a thanksgiving cactus

      "holiday cactus" is the catchall term for easter, thanksgiving, and christmas cactuses :-) they're all separate species but are very similar and often confused for one another. here's a chart for the differences

    I have one three-sided segment in my entire plant. The segments that grew from it are only two-sided.
