IMO it’s an extremely easy plant. Just water it when it’s dry haha I bottom Water mine because of the mossy top.

Do you set it in water to do this? For how long?

Yep! I get a bigger bowl and set it in the water for about 10-15 minutes. I mean as long as you don’t leave it in there all day it will soak up what it wants and you can discard the rest. I think we’ve had it since early spring.

I agree with Moriah on all of the above! I’ve had one for 14+ yrs and is very easy to care for and mine seems to be very forgiving. The first half of its life I treated it like any other plant, which was a very big mistake lol. Pruning - this is absolutely an esthetic choice. You can leave it and let it get all wild. But eventually if you want it to look more controlled and “bonsai”, then you need to be thinking about that now as it takes years for the tree to mature. What do you want it to look like, height, branch direction, etc. With all the immature growth you may think it looks good like this, but those will eventually develop into real tree like branches at which point you might not want it looking like that, and pruning mature branches can be much harder for the plant to bounce back from. So you need to be thinking about that at this stage of the plant. (A lot, I know!) With all that being said, its completely up to you if you prune or not! If you decide to, my suggestion is do allllll the research you can first. There are some guidelines you want to follow (# of leaves removed, % of overall plant pruned, etc.). Look at your plant for a few days, picture what it will look like in 5 years, and decide what you WANT it to look like in 5 years :)
