Does anyone know anything about hyacinths? I planted my bulbs at the complete wrong time of year (newbie) resulting in them dying before they sprouted much.. I read online that you can dry out the bulbs and repot them for next year which I was planning on doing this at the right time of year this time in hopes that things go well on attempt 2! However, when I took them out of the pot, only one of the two has roots? The other has none at all? But both of them were growing fine before they went dormant for summer so I’m unsure why there’s no roots at all if it was growing? Are they both okay to repot for next year or is the one with no roots a no go? Any advice:)

I don’t think it hurts to plant them both in indoor pots. I was a beginner when I planted mine and accidentally put them in full sun rather than a place with some shade, so try keeping them in an east, west, or north window for the time being, and away from air vents or heaters. Bring them away from the windowsill during the winter so they don’t get too cold, then plant them in a place with some shade in the early spring (once it’s no longer a time for frost) Hope this helps! Good luck.

If you’re worried about the one that doesn’t have roots at the moment, you can add a little hydrogen peroxide to your watering can when watering that bulb. Hydrogen peroxide has a natural rooting hormone (it also naturally occurs in rainwater, which your once outdoor hyacinth would likely enjoy now that it’s gonna be inside for a while). Should help to grow some roots if you don’t wanna mess with fertilizers as a beginner. Just make sure you dilute the peroxide with water (don’t let it be more than 1/3 of the liquid in your watering can. Make sure it’s mostly water with some peroxide).
