Hi everyone! I recently noticed I’ve overwatered my Rubber tree and needed to change the soil as it was far too wet. I started to repot the plant but realised the new soil I have has got logged with rain water. Would it be ok to leave the roots like this out of soil for 24hrs until I can get new soil? Any help is much appreciated 🤩

So I don’t recommend leaving its roots out they will dry. Stick it in some water until tomorrow. First take a little hydrogen peroxide and makes it in some water not too much hydrogen peroxide though. Then spray it on the roots to stop the rot then pop it in some water until tomorrow.

Also I recommend a tropical soil mix with extra perlite I like to mix a small amount of indoor potting mix cause sometime the soil gets too dry.

I bake my soil low and slow to dry it out, cool it and repot. Definitely add perlite!

Many nurseries bake their potting mix to kill pests, fungus and weed seeds. I have barbecued some soil in an old dented pot before. 😄

You can wrap the roots in damp paper towels or newspaper. Then wrap in plastic or foil for 24 hours. Keep it out of direct sunlight.
