Is this sunburn or maybe something else? This is the only leaf with these spots and it fell off but a couple other leaves have fallen too. They were yellowish so I’m assuming maybe just the natural course of the plant? One of the bottom leaves that’s still connected is yellowish too which makes me lean towards just natural? He has a new leaf also but there’s a little bit of brown on it and there was a little bit of brown on the pretty red jacket the new leaf was in as well. Seemed like maybe it was wearing the jacket for too long because it turned pinkish and then was like that for quite a while before it got the tiny bit of brown. He has a few other jackets that don’t have any brown on them. He also seemed to get more burgundyish over night so I’m leaning towards more light (it’s been sunny and hot) and so the variegation became more intense but then maybe too much light for that one leaf? Help please:) #New plant mom as you can tell lol

Mine did the exact same thing a month ago. Its new growths started to get a brown spot and stop growing and the bottom leaves would turn yellow red then fall. I thought it was normal but it’s not and after 5 leaves I started to try something different. I tried giving it more light. I also repotted into a better soil mix and a pot which had better drainage holes. I also started bottom watering and giving it a bit more water. I’m not sure which one helped but it has not lost a leaf in 3 week and seems to be slowest doing better. If you ever find out the real reason our plants are doing this please reach out.

Overwatering is typically the reasons and lack of humidity. Try giving this plant more humidity, I have my Ruby sitting on a pebble tray and I use a self watering pot. I only refill the tray when it’s bone dry, these plants are ok with having moist to dry soil before you water again. I suggest back off with watering. It needs to have a good draining soil for sure, I would suggest pulling out that pot and check your roots to make sure they are not black starting root rot. Repot in soil, perlite and bark

This is the setup I have for Ruby. Also poke holes in your soil or fluff it up from time to time. This ensures the plant is getting good oxygen to the roots if your soil is compacted in the pot because it isn’t in a good draining soil. Mine is in plant soil that I actually got from Amazon for that darn fiddle leaf plant (that I can’t stand and killed 😂)… both are Ficus plants so that soil worked. Good luck. Consider a humidifier or pebble tray
