Does anybody know why the tops of my string of pearls is shriveling?… | Anything about plants | Planta-community

Does anybody know why the tops of my string of pearls is shriveling? I cut a bunch off and repotted the healthy ends. Does it need more light?

I can give you a few ideas. Mine is thriving and wish I had a recent pic. Mine is in a very gritty succulent mix. In a shallow planter because their roots are very shallow. Under a very strong Sansi grow light. Similar to direct sun. Only gets watered when soil is bone dry and the little “windows” on the leaves are closed. Your current soil looks to be too organic. And it’s a relatively deep planter which means soil at the bottom probably stays wet all the time. Which can lead to root rot. Overall your plant looks very good so it’s good you have noticed the changes and can fix them.

Thanks, Phil! I never knew the “windows” were indicative of hydration. I appreciate it! I’m going to use that as a gauge going forward. Do you have a pic of the planter you currently have yours in? Mine are in a small pot but it’s deeper than it should be.

My current planter is 6.5 inches wide and 2 inches deep. I included a pic of the soil I use.
