I just recently got a beautiful string of hearts that is over 6 feet long! I was detangling all of the vines when I found these weird spike like things on them and hard balls both in the soil and on the vines?? I have no clue what they are so if someone knows pease let me know!

those are tubers! string of hearts are semi-succulent and store lots of water in those large ball-shaped roots. they’ll grow them in the air sometimes too, especially if it’s humid. the spikey things are seed pods, your plant was likely outside at some point and pollinated by a fly

here’s a close-up of one of the rooted tubers in my string of hearts (also a giant, her vines are 6+ feet long too)

Wow very cool. Would you maybe know how I can plant those seeds then they are ready?

i’m not familiar with sowing string of hearts but i imagine it’s similar to other seeds. lay them on some damp, sterile potting mix, and offer them plenty of light and humidity. a plastic bag or inverted plastic cup makes a great mini greenhouse for germinating seeds and acclimating plants to household humidity
