First calathea over here! Advice?!!
rain water or tap water treated with a conditioner.. (distilled works but it’s expensive) these are sensitive to temperature change (change in general) so it might do some ugly stuff before it adapts to its new home — just bear with it. and even when you do everything right, calathea is still going to have some brown tips — just accept that now and you’ll be happier for it hahah 😊💚
2 J'aimeThank you! I use filtered water for all my plants so hopefully that will be okay?
0 J'aimeFor mine; Just make sure the humidity is fine, the temp is fine Water when 25% dry (I use distilled water) If you use tap water or whatnot, depends on what’s in your tap water. If it’s too hard; the leaf tips will crisp up I personally use the same soil mix for all my plants but I don’t know what the best one is for them (I use coco coir, succulent soil, perlite)

Mine have ALL come with the fabric wrap of death around the root ball, so I’d recommend checking out the roots for signs of that. Otherwise, know there will be an adjustment period but consistent care will help her settle in and thrive. 🤩
