My Gasteraloe isn’t looking too happy lately and I could use some advice. The leaves are starting to get a brownish tint near the base, and a few tips are drying out.Could this be sun stress? I have kept it inside today. The right picture is when it looked fine and healthy.

Is there any way it has root rot from watering the crown? I lost an aloe this way. I hope it is sun stress instead.

I hope its not. I never even water from the top. Do you suggest repotting?

I sure don’t know for certain. Mine had root rot and I did to try propagate it as you would a Christmas cactus and was not successful. I was pretty new to plant motherhood then.. lol. Are the bottoms near the base mushy? If so, it could be rot.

Gasteraloe turn rusty brown when sun stressed. Hopefully yours is just staring to change. Usually it happens over the entire plant. The Planta app suggest full sun for a Gasteraloe. I think it’s too strong and have both of mine under Barrina grow lights with my Haworthias.
