Hey! Was wondering what i should do. Not supposed to water my fishbone yet, but I checked the soil and itâs bone dry. Not even a hint of dampness. Should I water it early or leave it alone? I wasnât sure since this is the first time Iâve owned a cactus.
Even if an app tells you not to water a plant just yet, the app doesnât know if your plants soil is actually dry or not. That is a tropical cactus, if it was a desert cactus it could wait, but since itâs a tropical it needs more water as they grow in the treetops as an epiphyte. They get rainfall often but it drains away because they are in a tree.

Any plant app, is simply a suggestion, it can't know the conditions of your plant. It's why it's recommended to check the soil before you water too

Friendly tip, if your cactusâ roots arenât much bigger than the plant, I would definitely put that into a smaller pot
6 Likes I didnât have any pots smaller than this one that werenât under 3 inches (succulent pots). Thanks for the advice though!
