Got a Hoya cutting from a friend today. Any tips and tricks for a successful propagation? Do they do well with water propping? If I laid it on it’d side instead of burying the tip, would it spawn roots from multiple nodes? TIA

Pull off the bottom leaves exposing the node or two very nicely- and prop it up in some water- Change it every other day or so and sunlight and humidity And you got this (patience!)

I haven’t done anything with the cutting yet. Put it in my prop box yesterday. After looking at it. Is this cutting currently too large to propagate? Do the leaves need to be trimmed off or could they stay? Can I cut each section and turn it into 4 different cuttings to propagate?

With Hoya you don’t need to trim leaves at nodes. People are successful propagating them using pretty much every method you’ve heard of, including water. Some plop it in their growing media just like that and have success. Sitting up or laying down will work (make sure you will be able to pot in it’s laying down shape if you go that route. Warm temps and humidity are valuable, and someday when you plant the kiddo watch out for root rot. Also I don’t think it’s too large but you could also cut it into two props if you want to.
