Yancy

Fiddle Leaf Fig I bought this one on sale, but when I bought it home, I noticed it seems a bit scrawny. I don’t see this thick roots to become a huge tree. Should I be concerned or is it still a baby. Hopefully it can grow into those big ones, I have hope 😅😅.

It’s tiny compared to how big it would need to get for it to develop anything resembling tree roots.

They grow a couple inches a year usually you’ll start seeing the leaves at the bottom shed which is totally normal and as it does that the main stems get longer.

Just be careful with the size pot you use they don’t like big pots.

I would say yes i would wait till it settles in and get a little bigger if it’s a single stem propagate it later on if it’s 3 stems like mine it should be fine unless you want 2

You definitely have a baby there! Depending on light, water, and fertilizer, FLF will grow anywhere from a couple inches to a couple feet each year. It's possible with optimal care to have a the tree you want (assuming about 5+ feet tall) in a few years, but these plants can be so temperamental that I wouldn't count on it being quick. My great grandma always said growing houseplants into housetrees was a 10 year commitment and she'd rather just have her husband buy her a 5 foot tree to begin with 🤣
