Just got this Christmas Cactus as a gift. I want to know if it’s already bloomed this year or if I can expect blooms soon. Seeing as it was a gift I’m assuming it’s tapped out for this year.

So they typically bloom when the time changes. They need to experience 12 hours of darkness consistently before blooming. Mine typically blooms in October/November and then again around April. I recommend watching some videos on it or doing research for care. I suppose you could force it to bloom if you really wanted.
0 LikesThey are very sensitive to change in environment so I wouldn't expect blooms this year. Shorter daylight hours and cooler nighttime temps trigger blooms, so with consistent care your should get blooms next year.
0 LikesI think the plant you have is a thanksgiving cactus. They are very often sold as Christmas cactus, but they have those fun pointy bits on their “leaves” (no idea what the segments are actually called). Their care is very similar to a Christmas cactus, I treat both my thanksgiving and Christmas alike. It looks like your plant has some lingering blooms on it so I would expect it might be done blooming for the year. That being said my thanksgiving cactus is a rebel and often blooms more than once a year, anywhere from October to February. So depending on your lighting situation and the plant, you may get some fresh blooms yet this year.
0 LikesMy Thanksgiving cactus blooms in November and again around Easter.
