Replacing the soil wouldn’t be my first choice, as they could come back and messing with the roots of a plant during winter could shock the plant. I recommend using mosquito bits for the next few waterings and using sticky traps to get any adults flying around. And in the future let the soil get as dry as the plant will allow between waterings and bottom water instead of top watering.

if your string of hearts has fungus gnats, it’s likely been over watered and/or it’s in too dense of a soil. they need a very gritty succulent mix, at least 60% inorganic matter like perlite and pumice. repotting, removing all the soil, and spraying with neem is an extreme measure usually reserved for a severe soil pest infestation. in future, you can just water your plants with a hydrogen peroxide solution to kill all the larvae in the soil, and use some kind of trap to catch the adults. be sure the soil is totally dry before you water again and the gnat population should reduce dramatically

occasionally, yes; it’s eaten away the bottom portion of the stems on my monstera cuttings when i was saving them from root rot. i think it’s because i made the solution too strong. for a small amount of water (less than a cup) you only need a few drops for it to be effective
