Can my monstera overcome an overwatered soil? This pic was taken 2 days ago. Since then some of her leaves are turning black at the tips & more of the yellow is starting to come. I found her a better spot in our house for indirect light. I’m just wondering if anyone thinks she still has a chance. Backstory: we relocated & the hours spent in the truck being hauled burned her leaves. I cut the dead leaves off So it’s a lot of transitions going on

0개 좋아요 If you done got your plant some root rot, you wanna remove it from the pot, clean off all the bad soil from the roots, use sterilized scissors or pruners to trim off any black/brown/mushy/rotting roots off. It’s okay to remove up to 90% of the roots but if you remove more than 1/3rd you also want to trim some of the oldest leaves to allow the plant to focus on roots. Then you wanna repot into a much better draining chunkier mix. You should also maybe get some support so it isn’t trying to crawl all over the pot

Also purchase a water meter. I have 3 from the Tik Tok shop and it works wonders to ensure I don’t over water my plants

I believe that your plant has been to too much stress by now. One thing I learnt is to one fix one thing at the time. As you had relocated she got into too much stress so leave her be for some time now, she will recover but needs her time, no watering in the meantime, no changes on the place again, just leave her there, if there’s good indirect light that’s perfect. She might take two weeks to months to the comfortable with the place but don’t give up, she is beautiful just need her own time. From now on if you want to try something different only change one thing at the time and give it space to see if gets better. I’d recommend keep checking the soil very deep if it’s wet or dry, don’t let it dry entirely but not soggy. If you see that needs water pour some gently like a gentle rain and leave it be. I’ve been through this a lot having to move on peak winter and my plants being dragged feeling all the cold air they took so much time to recover and I ended up losing some for thinking that I had to give them too much water or keeping trying to rescue them at all cost. You can do this 💪🏻🪴
좋아요 1개 Thanks for the advice! After posting that I realized that too. I gave her 3 changes over a course of 2-3 weeks. I didn’t replace her soil, but I found a good indirect spot for some light. She’s been there for a few days now & the discoloration of the leaves has stopped. I’m just going to monitor her & make small adjustments as needed.
