Just got a Venus fly trap any tips
Have a butch of distilled water

0 LikesMine is in sphagnum moss only. I let it sit in water 24/7 and only water with rain water or distilled water
0 LikesIsn’t it bad for Venus fly traps to water them constantly?
0 LikesNo they are bog plants. They want water 24/7 to imitate a bog. Pitcher plants don’t want water 24/7
2 LikesReally because the app said water it every three days
0 LikesJust to make sure it has water but it’s definitely supposed to be sitting in water at all times
1 LikeAlso, I do mist my fly trip regularly
0 LikesDon’t give it too much water
0 LikesOkay I water mine every 3 days
0 LikesThere is really never such a thing as “too much water” for Venus flytraps
0 LikesWater your Venus as often as you want, I water my when I touch it and if feels like it’s beginning to dry out. Honestly, its roots are always sopping wet, as in I keep the sphagnum moss dripping with distilled water almost constantly. Venus fly traps are bog water plants, meaning their roots are CONSTANTLY wet, they HATE drying out. When feeding traps only feed 1-2 at a time because you can over fertilize them. Changing the substrate to sphagnum moss is always a plus, it retains moisture without added risk of a ton of bugs like peat moss. When it hits winter you need to put it outside because Venus flytraps go dormant during the winter. Without this dormancy you’ll see slower growth and eventually death of all traps and the whole plant. If they’re not allowed to rest they will exhaust and die.
