I thought this was a baby rubber plant but it turned out to be a ficus bonsai. Long story short I’ve been caring for it all wrong. The soil was too dry and I don’t think it’s getting enough light. It’s lost most of the leaves. Do we think it’s savable?? Hopefully it keeps the last of its leaves 😓

Rubber plants are related to ficus, and I wouldn’t categorize yours as a bonsai. You’re probably right about it being a rubber plant. Typically bonsai trees have smaller leaves like a ficus benjamina or dwarf pomegranate etc.

I finally made it out to be a “VARIEGATED FICUS TRIANGULARIS” Very excited to see it grow!

Yes, this is a ficus triangularis, with several common names such as mistleto ficus or sweetheart ficus. It can be a bonsai. Bonsai is a term referring to how the plant is grown, not what type of plant it is. Many plants can be grown as a bonsai. And yes, a rubber plant is also in The ficus family but it has different needs than your ficus triangularis.
