Tried doing research on this and ended up more confused…. I have a north facing window and a grow LED bulb to supplement direct sun. I’m interested in getting a carnivorous plant but it sounds like that’s likely not possible if they need a ton of sunlight. Am I missing anything or is this out of the question for me?

You can grow a lot with a northern exposure and a grow light. (I do!) Of course, there’s “northern exposure with a big bright window” and “northern exposure with a tiny window and a building right opposite that blocks all the light.” But it’s worth a try if that’s what you want imho!

A good quality grow light makes anything possible. They do like a LOT of direct sunlight, so keep your grow light close to the plant and choose a high quality one. I made the mistake of using a crappy quality and it started to look unhealthy and wouldn’t eat bugs. When I placed it under a Barrina good quality grow light, it came right back and is eating bugs again and flowering!
