When I add liquid fertilizer, should I be watering also? I added this directly to the soil per instructions, but I bottom water my plants & I’m wondering if I should also bottom water at the same time?

    My miracle grow says to add a teaspoon to every gallon - but I have a large bottle. I also looked up when the app asks you to fertilize does it mean to water and fertilize as that confused me as the app doesn’t directly specify. But when I googled the app and AI the question they both came back and said yes to water and fertilize at same time. With my bottom watered pots I just add it to the basin and let it soak up but I also add just a tiny bit of water to the top soil also at this time because when I fertilize I also use gnat deterrent. This way I can keep those buggers away also. Sorry I’m long winded. Hope it makes sense.

    It’s premixed and ready to add to water. “Fertilize” here means “water with fertilizer.” Also, though, the type of fertilizer is a whole art - with succulents, anyways. You want to make sure you’re giving the right levels (you’ll see a ratio like 4:8:8 or 10:10:10 etc. listed somewhere). I would encourage you to check out which plants like which fertilizer:)

      Wait. If that is pellets and not liquid fertilizer, ignore my “add it to water” lol. The pellets sit on top of the soil.

    I wouldn’t put the fertilizer directly in the soil becuase it can lead to uneven fertilizing and fertilizer burn. On the back of the container there are instructions which are good to use but I get lazy and if you use a watering can one or two squirts should be good. Or if you are using a bowl for bottom watering eyeballing the amounts should be fine just under fertilizing is way better than over. You can bottom or top water with this method but when you mist it in your bottom water make sure to stir it up a few times. I hope this helps! :)
