Hello everyone!! Soooo, broke down and bought some more plants lol. I have a scindapsus treubii moonlight coming in and I’ve read they like a bit of humidity. I live in NC and my house isn’t dripping with humidity but I’m sure it’s fairly humid compared to other houses in other states. I don’t really want to invest in a humidifier right away, is there any way to create humidity without that or do I even need to worry?

Two things you can do to increase humidity around your plant: 1. Get a tray of pebbles/gravel/rocks/sand, and partially fill that tray with water. Set your plant on the tray so that it is not in the water, but sitting on the pebbles. The pebbles help to elevate the base of the plant pot out of the water (so the plant is not soaking up any of the water), and they also help to slow the evaporation of the water. 2. You can also mist your plant to raise the humidity. This will give it more humidity than the tray of rocks, but the tray of rocks will last longer. You can also get a $10 hygrometer (measures humidity, much like a thermometer measures temperature). Depending on the relative humidity in your house, you may not need to increase it at all.

You can always bring the plant into the bathroom during shower time.

I don’t recommend misting plants. I have had my moonlight in 30%-50% humidity (what’s natural for my living room depending on time of year) for a few years now and it seems to be doing fine. I give mine a shower at watering time maybe once a month to keep the leaves clean (which gives me hard water spots), but that is about it. As you can she she’s not perfect, but there aren’t crispy leaf ends, so that tells me high humidity it’s crucial. Also, I highly recommend pruning if you get runners, this has given me a fuller plant.
