I have thrips for the first time. Treated with diluted soap and killed what I could see, however they have already moved in on 4 different plants. What else should I be doing?

I thoroughly rinse the plants that have them. Once dry I use captain jacks dead bug spray and systemic granules in the soil to conquer any eggs. Isolate those plants and treat again with the spray in a week and then again in another week after that. Also if you have the yellow or blue sticky traps you can put them in the plant to catch any adults. I have over 400 plants, the first time I got thrips I panicked. No reason to though. I realized having plants means having pests sometimes. The good news is you caught them before they got too far! Good luck!
6 Mi piaceThis is great advice, better than I ever got when treating thrips. Use a pest killer that is non harmful to your plants on both the leaves and soil. Shower the plants, isolate, and check daily for the thrips.
2 Mi piaceYeah wow this is the most calming, reassuring, but helpful advice I think I’ve ever seen. I always panic when I find something and this actually made me feel so much better. Thank you 🙏
1 mi piaceYou’re welcome! 😍
1 mi piaceThanks Gaia, really helpful advice and I will definitely try to stop panicking!
1 mi piaceIf they are spreading the easy thing to do would get the predator bugs in a sachet. Check out a YouTube video to watch how they go to town on the bugs they’re designed to eat.

1 mi piaceDefinitely don’t need to panic! I live in a country where systemic pesticides are illegal and I still got rid of my thrips problem. I didn’t yet want to shell out for $$$ beneficial nematodes so I used a pesticide spray (please just be careful about where you’re spraying! Toxic to pets, also outside they’re toxic to bees & other important insects - I sprayed mine in the shower and then cleaned the shower!). I also used this wild tip I saw on Reddit and kept them in a plastic bag for a while to increase the humidity. Thrips hate humidity. (I had a very bad infestation.) the plants survived and it worked for me!
