⁉️IMPORTANT QUESTION⁉️ I have two adult cats, they never pay attention to any of my plants. I am getting a kitten soon and I’m not sure what to do about her not getting in to my plants. I don’t have any other space to put them. I live in a camper. I don’t have any kind of lily (never would) but I know some of these are toxic. What should I do? I don’t want to get rid of my plants but don’t want my kitten to get sick. Any thoughts or ideas?? Thanks

Spray bottle. I had a kitten, and I spray bottled her when she bit the plants with a stream. She doesn’t bite them now, she’s 2, but it’s a game to us, she doesn’t mind the mist setting and pretends she’s been “shot.”

But I’m worried about when I’m not there. For now I ordered a pet play pen thing to put her in when I’m not there till I know my other two cats will get along with her. But when she graduates from that I’m worried when I’m not there.

it may be a good idea to rehome your toxic plants if you notice your new kitten is particularly curious or adventurous. however, i would keep in mind that many houseplants are not deadly toxic but rather irritating and may cause symptoms such as itching and burning in the mouth or gastric distress. placing deterrents such as toys and oat grass (cat grass) or catnip may help.

Yeah, that’s a good idea. I’m gonna get some cat grass seed and grow that for them. I believe I don’t have any deadly plants. I never ever bring lilies in my house.

I have two cats who loooove getting into plants. I keep pet-friendly plants on any shelves or ledges they might get to, and unfriendly plants on higher shelves and in the middle of windowsills (so they’re sandwiched between pet-friendly ones). That way, they can get their munching tendencies out of their systems before getting anywhere near the unfriendly plants.

Good idea! I could put the non pet friendly ones in the middle and bunch them all together so she can’t squeeze her way in between them. And of course I’ll only let her out around them when I’m there so I can see how she does around them.
