this is my philodendron and i repotted it recently to a slightly bigger pot bc the leaf started to brown. Idk if it has root rot. I’m not sure what to look out for exactly if it does have root rot and idk how to fix root rot either. I haven’t been watering it too often bc the soil has been constantly damp. Can anyone help?

    Did you see any black soft roots? You can cut them off

      no i don’t remember seeing any black roots. but i didn’t do a thorough check. should i take it out of its pot and check?

      You’ll need to remove from the pot to check, they’re usually at the bottom so you should be able to see when you lift the plant

    Also try a more chunky soil mix with good drainage

    Before you do anything, the albo leaves on many plants die off due to there being no chlorophyll in that portion of the leaves. The same happens to pure white leaves. It’s common in monstera albos or philodendron white wizards. That leaf and stem section will most likely die off but it will easily come right off when it’s ready. That won’t affect the rest of your plant since the other leaves are green and producing chlorophyll for the plant. Watering wise it looks like you’re doing fine!! Do keep in mind philodendrons are moisture hogs though when they get to growin.

    As already stated, the browning is common. I think your pot may be too big. Pot size should be based on size of root ball.

      it just started growing a lot of new leaves so i thought it needed to upgrade to a slightly bigger pot 😅 i only did a pot that was 1inch bigger in diameter

    As said by others, this is common. It could be just a very minor change that would normally not be a problem. At least that is what I have found in my research. To help alleviate this from happening, try a silica supplement. But be aware there are two types. One needs to be allowed a resting phase before adding to the plant. The other is ready to use. I have always used the second type. Been using for a couple years and seems to be very beneficial.
