hi, i have this rubber plant that has a gap of leaves in the middle can i cut where i've marked the line and will the bottom part grow as normal again? and then could i put the top part in water to propagate into a new plant? new leaves to produce but the top of the plant hasn't looked overly healthy for a few leaves now so thinking about cutting that top part off to help healthier growth if this would work?
She’s basically telling you where to cut. You nailed it. Now chop and prop!

would totally work. though, the stake isn't necessary for a plant like a ficus. it should be able to stand on it's own. if it can't, try putting a fan near it. the wind stimulates the stem to grow stronger.
