How is everyone keeping their plants warm? My apartment will not stay warm (it’s currently 64 degrees 🥺) and some of my plants are already drooping.. I’m afraid I’m going to lose all of my hard work!

This is a good answer but I’m confused why she doesn’t just turn the heater on? 🤔 although I lived with an ex husband once that didnt allow that… if that’s the case I strongly recommend getting rid of the A hole human and saving herself and her plants 😅😭🤷♀️

1 likeA lot of us in the south right now have lost power or our heating systems simply can’t keep up with the cold snap we’re having.
0 likesI wouldn’t think 64 would do any harm, unless you have some very sensitive plants. You can check temperature requirements under each plant.
5 likesTurn the heat on? … forget the plants ma’am, I feel bad for YOU!! Get warm lol goodness
0 likesIt is on 😅 it just won’t keep up with how cold it is here! It’s 9 degrees, feels like -7.
2 likesOohh child 😭😭😭 That’s inhumane… move here to Florida with me, no need to suffer unnecessarily 🙏 Can you get a space heater?? Turn on the fireplace?? Omg my heart hurts for you rn
2 likesA lot of us in the south are either experiencing power outages or live in homes that simply weren’t built to keep up with these record low temperatures.
1 likePerhaps a heat lamp or small portable heater :) or try and place them closer to your heaters
1 likeYou want to keep the root systems as stable and warm as possible, so don't worry too much about what the leaves are doing. Wrap the pots in blankets/sweatshirts/pillowcases/towels/similar. You can water with lukewarm water (if the plant needs water- don't overwater). Group the plants close. Now isn't the time to worry about who's tropical and who's arid, if you have a plant cabinet, everyone you can fit goes in. Everyone else gets grouped together on stands/floor and can have a light sheet draped over them to help with drafts without crushing fragile leaves.
2 likesMost plants should be fine with 64°, and subtropicals can be allowed to go into a rest period or dormancy (in which case just reduce watering and stop fertilizing. They'd normally get a wet season/dry season year, so think dry season.) For the ones that really, really need warmer, try a heat lamp made for reptile care, just be sure to set distance and temp so it won't burn them
1 likeMost plants will be okay as long as it stays above 50. If some of your plants are already drooping, they may be struggling with hot dry air from heat vents or just drying out faster than usual from running the heat. That being said, if they’re right by windows, it will be much colder there and the plants could be too cold in those spots. I’m going to assume you’re somewhere in the south where going out to buy heating pads or space heaters isn’t an option right now, so I won’t suggest you buy anything. If I were in your shoes, I’d start by moving all the plants away from windows and into the middle of the room. If you have a room with no windows, that’s even better. If you’re still worried it’s too cold, you can also cover them all with blankets or sheets and wrap the pots in old plastic bags to insulate them more. Keeping the plants warm will be more important than light for now. You can also cover your windows with extra sheets/towels/blankets/cardboard, shove towels underneath exterior doors, and tape over the window seams to insulate your apartment a little more.
