What soil type is recommended for Snake plants? My plants are ready for repotting & I wanna ensure they get the best new soil and planter. I keep these indoors in the living room. Water them weekly once. And sometimes use water soluble Miracle Gro 20-20-20 plant food( maybe every1 month) Please recommend the soil type and planter type.

Hiya there ☺️ I would advise using a succulent mix! something that drains really well, it might seem lazy but there are lots of pre-packed soil online. I get mine for Amazon. Also another piece of advise, I would give would be to maybe water less 🫣 I know theres a Planta schedule but snake plants are succulents as long as the plant itself is turgid it’ll be fine going longer without water just when you do drown it in the shower happy planting! It looks really beautiful and heathy!! 🤗

Also we have the same decorative pots so cute!! And by planter do you mean pot that you plant it in?

Thank you Potheadparadise, for all your advice. Same pinch!! ❤️ I love these planters. I meant are these white ones a good size to repot the snake plants into?

I prefer to keep my plants in their original nursery pots until they become root-bound. When it’s time to size up, I like to move them into a clear nursery pot that’s approximately two inches wider than the root ball. I’ve noticed that snake plants in particular seem to thrive when they fit snugly in their pots. Clear pots also offer the lovely benefit of allowing you to observe what’s going on in the soil — in fact, I recently discovered that my snake plant is expecting a pup! I do think the current pot is a bit too deep, which could result in excess water retention. Too much soil can hold onto moisture for longer than the plant needs, increasing the risk of root rot.

I strongly recommend Potheadparadise’s advice. I doubt very much Planta is scheduled to water this plant weekly. Should water when it’s bone dry, not on a weekly schedule.

Thanks Phil. Noted I will be sure to water them when they are like bone dry. Planta scheduled it for 14 days and I try and follow that for the most part

Facts. Early on, I killed a snake plant by overwatering.

Honestly, snake plants probably need less water than every 14 days. I watered one of mine this week for the first time in about a month. It is quite happy.

Absolutely — I also believe that watering should be adjusted based on your home or outdoor environment. Snake plants are incredibly drought-tolerant by nature and truly thrive with less frequent watering. ☺️

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I will water them rarely and watch the environment.
