Any tips for going on a 2 week holiday for -peace lilies, -dumb cane, - cast iron plant - and an ivy plant? Are self watering globes worth a try? Thank you

    Dumb cane water before you go. That one I know can withstand a lack of water and be ok. The others if not in a self watering pots maybe leave with a friend if you are having hot temperatures. I only own the dumb cane though and that’s the only one I can say would be ok. Have an awesome vacation!

    Sorry, I don't have advice on two weeks away. But if you do try the water globes, please keep an update. I would love to know if they do work. The last time we were away for over two weeks, my husband actually drove home 4 1/2 hours two times while we were away to water the plants! 😳

    I feel like watering globe would be okay for peace lily since they don’t need to dry out between waterings

    Cast iron is pretty drought tolerant so a good watering before leaving should be good(water and let it sit and soak up water for about 30 mins). When I went on vacation I used the string method. Stuck cotton string in bottom of pot until about half way up. Left on ledge of bathtub and filled up bathtub. Put other end of string in tub filled with water. Worked like a charm for my plants that required frequent watering. Didn’t lose a plant and I’ve got over 100. I find it more reliable than a watering globe as sometimes it’s just not enough water for a 2 week trip and also completely soaks soil.

    These have worked really well for me. I just used a 16oz water bottle which lasted me close to 2 weeks. Depending on the plants watering needs, you may have to use a bigger bottle/ container. The plant will take what it needs.

    When I go away for two weeks I give all my plants a good watering and then, depending on the plant, either do the globe or terracotta/bottle setup for the larger plants or place the smaller plants in a large Tupperware container. The Tupperware is lined with a towel and water that comes right up to the surface of the towel, placing the plants in the nursery pots on the towel acts as a wicking system. I put them in moderate light (not too bright, not too dark) and they do just fine.
