Stupid Question,. I have a Fiddle Leaf and an Areca Palm. But obviously indoors at a climate controlled home of 68-72 degrees. It's now our rainy season and it's been pouring the past few days. Seeing all this great rain water fall I was wondering, can I put my plants outdoors to take in that good H20? It's not the water per se but the temperature outdoors is still hovering around 48-54 degrees (currently 50). Would it be too much of a shock to the plant? If not, how long should I keep it out there? TIA

Can’t give any guidance on how those particular plants do in the cold, but can suggest that if you’re worried, you can always bring the water inside instead of putting the plants outside. I collect rain in 5-gallon buckets and bring it in to water. They love it, especially my calathea and maranta.

I'm sort of doing that now. But was looking at it from the standpoint it's outdoors, getting all the rain and air and a nice bath of the plant itself. Appreciate your response. Maybe I just play it safe and bring the water in. I need a bigger bucket at this rate. 😩

Everything I've read thus far sort of don't recommend it. So I'll stick to my regularly scheduled program

Rainwater is great for plants but fiddle figs don’t like too much water. They’ll get red spots all over the leaves if they get too much. Temp wise you should always acclimate indoor plants. Short burst of being outside getting longer every few days

Rain water is great, but I would catch it in containers and water with that. Fiddle Leaves like to be dramatic so it may just drop all the leaves on you if you shock it.
