I just bought a juniper bonsai today. The lady at the shop said it doesn't have drainage holes because they put rocks under the soil in the pot. How do I know how much I would need to water in this scenario?? (Ignore the blue flowers in the back lol)

    I’ve never seen a potted bonsai like that that doesn’t have drainage holes. Rocks in the bottom usually don’t work but don’t this comment as gospel 🤣. Usually I water mine by just submerging the whole thing but then I would make sure and tip it to drain the excess water when you do. Good luck! She’s cute.

      PS Junipers need to be outside! Hopefully you don’t have frost where you live but I’ve killed a couple by having them indoors.

    They need drainage, you can use a diamond drill bit and put a few holes in, or put this plant in a slightly bigger pot with holes. They also need to be outside, or they will die. I water until the water runs out of the drain holes.

    I just got one myself and found out it had no drainage hole! I'm hoping to use a ceramic drill bit to make holes in the bottom. All be putting them outside tomorrow as the temperature will be dipping to bellow 30 tonight.

      I ended up finding some drainage pots (3 pack) on Amazon for cheap. They seem to drain well and has been growing new leaves in the outside weather
