sad plant 😞 needs distilled or rainwater and to be kept moist & lots of direct briiight light. I know people have success with a perlite and sphagnum moss mix — VFT like poor “soil”

I’d agree with distilled water and a lot of light keep em moist and they’ll be happy I traveled 2000+ miles with mine and she’s still doing well. I’ve had her a few months now

Yeah, this is almost certainly a light issue. VFTs *do* need low ppm water for a long life in order to avoid burning roots, but that tends to be something that kills the plant more slowly rather than so dramatically like this. Generally, flytraps are really only going to thrive in cultivation when grow outside in direct sunlight or under a good grow light. If you are going to try to move it outside, though, be sure to slowly acclimate it, as just putting her directly outside may be too much at once!

Is it ok to use just tap water that is filtered?

No, it should be distilled or rain water.
