I need some desperate help on one of my precious monsteras. She’s been sitting in my front living room for about a year and a half. Every year during the summer I put her and my other monstera outside (this other monstera has always been larger). I went to do that this year and this happened (see scorches below). Before that I was considering repotting her to a bigger pot with more of a chunky soil mix. As soon as I saw the scorched leaves, I brought her inside and then repotted her. While repotting her, I used a brand new bag of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark. I also fertilized her and gave her roots a nice cleaning. In the midst of this, I accidentally ripped one of the new leaves. My question is …since the scorched leaves aren’t ever going to get better, do I cut them all the way back? What about the one that I accidentally ripped? I literally don’t know what to do. Help!!

Monstera‘s are very light sensitive so it might be getting burned from the light try putting in shade

That’s what I did after the leaves were scorched. My question is should I cut off the limbs with the scorched leaves?

I would cut it off with clean shears, that way the plant is using its energy towards the new growth. Before you cut watch a video so you know exactly where to cut.

Make sure you clean the shears with alcohol

Hard lessons I learned with you! When you transition the plant outside it needs to be done in small phases a couple hours in the morning then back in and slowly over a week or two it spends more and more time outside till it can stay, start with a shaded area and slowly increase the light exposure along with the time it stays out. The scorched leaves as long as they are still green will still produce energy for the plant. Since it was recently sunburned and repotted I would wait to cut any leaves and let it recover with every ounce of strength it has. I would also flush or was put your soil from the fertilizer newly repotted plants can get root burn from fertilizer if they aren’t established
