0 likesI absolutely adore tradescantia, so congratulations on making a great plant choice to start out. I want to put this up front so you anticipate it: when the plant has been growing for a while it can get leggy-looking and the top and older parts of stems can get very bare. I know a lot of people who have thrown out their tradescantia for this reason, but you don’t need to! Just chop any bald or leggy-looking stems back so there’s maybe 1/2-1” coming out of the soil. They will regrow fuller than before and pretty quickly. And the parts you cut can also be stuck back into the pot for a fuller plant. Old leaves die off faster than other plants but it’ll also replace quickly if you give it the chop once every 6-12 months. Those stems are easily-broken for a reason. Good luck!
