i am the definition of a helicopter parent when it comes to my plants. I leave for 12 days, everyone’s been neglected for the past week so I could water everyone at once. my plants are probably thanking whatever greater power there is that they can grow undisturbed. ps I’m missing my Florida bronze’s first leaf since having her and I’m so sad.

just found out my mystery philodendron is a Florida bronze and I haven’t been able to find a lot of info about it! Do you have any tips or tricks? I have a couple leaves that have stopped unfurling halfway and don’t seem to be growing

Ooo lucky you! I love my bronze. I basically treat it like my philos that are in soil (just no watering). I probably only change the water every 1~2 months depending on how much sun it gets. Every time I add more water to the vase I fertilize at about 1/4 strength. Highly recommend fertilizing every watering if you want to see more growth, just at a lower strength than the bottle recommends. If they’re having trouble unfurling it may be a humidity issue. When I notice the petiole starting to split I mist like 5 times a day (humidifier would be more time efficient). If it’s still really struggling after a few weeks you can wrap a warm rag around the spike. I do short ten second or so bursts and check if it’s opened up in between.

Here’s a photo I took of it Monday! I didn’t realize it started off so small
