I bought Bib last week and roots are already coming through the pot. Should I repot him? Thanks in advance, Lewis

That doesn’t necessarily mean you need to repot
1 LikeHi Lana - can you explain? I thought this was a good sign for root-bound plants!

It can be a sign but not always. I have 3 different plants that do this and they aren’t root bound, it’s just water roots popping out the bottom searching for water
0 LikesI’ve also read that if you water the plant and it sits on top of the soil (not soaking in easily), this can be because the root system is so dense (probably root-bound)! Apparently a too-dense root system impedes effective water absorption, but if this is an issue, you’d likely see effects of underwatering on your plant.
1 LikeTake Bob out and see what the rest of the roots look like. Sometimes roots out the bottom might not exactly be root bound. But in this case, it looks like you could go up a pot size or 2.
5 LikesHow do I take him out when he’s clamped to the pot? Cut the roots? Cut the pot?
0 LikesShould be able to squeeze the sides to loosen the soil and roots up and it should slide right out. If you wait for the soil to dry up a bit, it’ll be easier too. If the roots are catching, I just take a stick or something and push up gently through the drainage holes
0 LikesI agree with Harris! I’d inspect the root system. If roots are circling around the inside of the pot and take up 50%+ of what you can see when you remove it, it’s time for a repot! I hope that helps!
